What is your business all about?
People should have jobs that they enjoy and that they're good at. You probably spend more time at work than you do with your family. You should spend those hours effectively, passionately, and above all, meaningfully.
CoderSchool was built to address that by tackling how education and hiring for software engineering is done.
What made you decide to accept investment from TRIVE?
They're still the only investor I've ever met that knows how to hustle, while also knowing how to dream. TRIVE combines short-term operational know-how with big-picture huge vision. They sold me on that right away.
How TRIVE has aided you?
TRIVE (Ting Yan) has been instrumental at every step of the way. Of course they've handled all the paperwork around incorporating and bank accounts, but beyond that they've been my single most trusted advisor on all aspects of the business, whether it's helping me untangle HR issues, select pricing strategies, or explore new customer acquisition channels. Ting Yan has even babysat my dog and brought me food when I was feeling unwell.

TRIVE: What we saw in the team
We first met Charles in mid 2017, Korean-American man who decided to build a company and make an impact in Vietnam, a place where he just happened to land in. We were impressed by how much the people around him bought into his vision, how the students and alumni’s careers have rocketed, and the amount of trust employers have in the 2 year old brand. Of course, that the training being delivered in English and opening their students’ potential to a global audience helped in making the decision to invest that much easier.
